European Commission recognises Czech “Drone Hunter” Eagle. One

15. 9. 2025

The Czech autonomous robotic system Eagle. One, developed by the Czech Technical University in Prague together with Fly4Future and Eagle. One, has been highlighted in the European Commission’s State of the Union 2025 report. The project was presented as a prime example of cutting-edge European innovation with worldwide impact.

This unique “drone hunter” uses artificial intelligence to identify and safely capture unauthorised drones in protected airspace – without destroying them. The eight-rotor, 15-kg robot can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and intercepts targets using a special capture net. Such capabilities make it a breakthrough solution for airports, prisons, border crossings, and the protection of critical infrastructure. “We see this not only as recognition of our entire team’s efforts, but also as confirmation that our technology truly makes sense and brings real value,” says Věra Sasková of Fly4Future.

For CTU researchers and students, this recognition is both a motivation and a responsibility to push the boundaries of AI robotics even further. Eagle.one is already attracting interest from across Europe and beyond, including from defence organisations and operators of sensitive sites. From Prague to Brussels, this Czech innovation proves that advanced drone safety technologies can set global benchmarks. You can read the full CTU press release here (available in Czech).
